Come and join us at our trail running retreat in the Black Mountains of South Wales.

The trip is guaranteed to showcase the breathtaking scenery of the region, and create some epic memories - it's not to be missed!

Runners will upskill in so many ways through the three days, including:

  • Mountain navigation and knowledge

  • Trail runs on challenging and varied terrain

  • ​Strength and conditioning for runners​

  • Essential trail running skills

  • Yoga

 ITINERARY 

Friday 11th September:

  • 12pm: a leisurely 10-15km (approx) trail run, enabling runners to chat and introduce themselves to each other.

  • Check-in is available from 4pm​​​​

  • Dinner

    • A healthy, home-cooked meal is included in your ticket price (provided at the accommodation).

    • Guests are also welcome to cook their own food, if they wish to.

  • A choice of evening activities:​

    • use of the hot tub

    • board games

    • visit to a local pub

    • rest

The goal is to create a safe and fun environment, where everyone can run and learn together without the distractions of our daily lives...

Our team of run leaders, coaches, instructors and mountain leaders will provide you with the highest quality of training, guidance and safety across the three days of the trip.

Whole-retreat tickets include:

  • 3 nights of accommodation (private bedrooms with 2 shared bathrooms)

  • 3 days of fully supported activities

The accommodation is a 6-bedroom house in Brecon, with a dining area, lounge, garden, and hot tub​ for guests to use.

 

Saturday day-only ticket (max. 5 available)

  • £50 per person

  • ​All intermediate-advanced daytime activities

  • £15 optional add-on for evening activities and facilities (shower, hot tub, dinner and movie night) - must be booked in advance

Sunday day-only ticket (max. 10 available)

  • £50 per person

  • ​All beginner-intermediate daytime activities

  • £15 optional add-on for evening activities and facilities (shower, hot tub, dinner and movie night) - must be booked in advance

  • Your fuel during runs and activities (ensure you bring enough for three strenuous days of activities)

Saturday 12th September:

(Level: Intermediate-Advanced)

​​

  • Breakfast (including cereals, toast, eggs, yoghurts, juices, coffee, tea)

  • 9-10am: Informal strength & conditioning session, designed to get attendees ready for the day ahead.

  • 'Mountain skills for trail runners' session, hosted by an experienced and qualified Mountain Leader, which will cover:​

    • Mountain safety

    • Route planning

    • Emergency procedures

    • Injury management

    • An overview of equipment

    • Navigation skills 

    • Using phones and GPS

  • Long afternoon trail run (approx. 20-25km), led by Philthy Running

  • Pizza and movie night (with big-screen projector)

Monday 14th September:

  • Optional early morning trail run

  • Breakfast

  • Check-out by 10am

  • Depart

Please note: it is possible for guests to arrive later than Friday's first activity, or leave earlier than Monday morning. Full prices will still apply.​​​

​​Sunday 13th September:

(Level: Beginner-Intermediate)

  • Breakfast

  • 9-10am: A choice of 'strength and conditioning for runners' or yoga. 

  • 'Discover the lesser-known trails': a 15km (approx) trail run led by a Brecons-native run leader.

  • 'Essential trail running skills' workshop, hosted by Philthy Running, including:

    • Footwork on difficult terrain​

    • Descent techniques

    • Scrambling

    • Using poles

    • How to leave no trace

  • Home-cooked dinner

  • Movie night (with big-screen projector)

 KIT ​​

 

Mandatory items:

  • Sufficient fuel for all runs and activities (inc. high source of calories and sodium)

  • Sufficient hydration

  • Running pack (with min. 1L of liquid capacity)

  • Trail running shoes (NOT road shoes!)

  • Waterproof jacket 

  • Warm mid- and base-layer

  • What3Words app

  • Head torch

Recommended / optional items:

  • Trail running poles​

  • A second pair of trail shoes

  • Simple clothes and footwear for immediately after a run (expect a 1 hour drive back to accommodation)

  • Map and compass for navigation

  • Gloves

  • Warm hat or buff
